Agonda Beach is Goa 'newest' beach and the place every tourist from Europe will flock to at least for a few days in they get a chance.
For good reason too because it has five kilometres of romantic wide beach to roam on perfect for a couple looking to get away or for a family with children. Accommodation maybe in shortage during season so your advised to book early.
The local town of Agonda has a large enough population of five thousand Konk's that stretch inland into the jungle. Agonda provides a cultural experience as well as the beach, and local people always prove to be entertaining.
Crime is minimal but tourist should be careful of there belongings. Guesthouse with a good reputation can be considered much safer than the many fly-by-night resort that have sprung up.
During you time in Agonda you should sample as much 'goan fish rice curry.' Perhaps a small glass of feni (a locally brewed coconut liquor that is beloved we local alike.)
The many restaurants cater to every taste need from the Nepali run German Bakery to the Kashmir tandoori at Madhu Huts roasting fish and garlic nan to tender perfection. You will also find excellent Pizza at Dolce Vida, even sushi at the high end establishments.
Watch out after the monsoon sand flies can be painful in the north end of the beach. Generally there not many mosquito in Agonda but that may change to the advent of pit toilets and showers.
